Claudio Garovi debuted as a DJ in 1996. Under the moniker of Genji, he started his career in the canton of Obwalden in the heart of Switzerland. The grandson of a composer, he had studied classical disciplines such as the violin and singing, and he already had solo performances, CD recordings and TV appearances under his belt. By his early teens, he had started to develop a passion for electronic music, mainly due to the influence of his brothers. After his successful debut, he gave various performances in central Switzerland, adopting the pseudonym of DJ Nytom in 1997. Upon moving from Obwalden to the city of Bern, he made further appearances in popular local clubs. In 2000, Nytom successfully participated in Drehmeister 2000, a local DJ contest. In the spring of 2001, he founded the party label TIEFDRUCK in cooperation with PATRIQUE. Numerous all-night TIEFDRUCK parties followed, among them BM_HAUS parties at Bern's notorious Dead End and at larger clubs such as Lovezoo, Mokka, Guayas and the ToSee Club in Fribourg. Eventually, Mental X discovered the newcomer and on several occasions invited him to guest on his dance program SHAKE on Radio VIRUS - a gateway to bookings at nationally renowned clubs such as the Labyrinth and the Q Club in Zurich. Nytom also produces und publishes tracks under the label of gbros productions, which he operates in conjunction with his brother Teiwaz. Whenever the two of them perform a DJ set together, it's an electrifying experience. Nytom enjoys playing and mixing different styles of electronic music. His sets are always surprising and idiosyncratic, and they are distinguished by the openness with which he approaches electronic music. Nytom - the fine art of electronic music. |
